Center Information

Last November, with the inspiration of our friend and teacher, Karola Schneider, and the blessings of our main teacher, Lama Ole Nydahl, our long-time Diamond Way friends in the Houston area purchased 12 acres of land. We now have The First Diamond Way Buddhist Retreat Center In America! As the Karma Kagyu Lineage was known in Tibet for its great yogis, this is a great blessing. Now we can begin building up this wonderful land with the energy and inspiration of the meditators of the Texas Diamond Way Sanghas. Check here to see the beautiful landscape of the T.R.C.

Weekly Meetings

We meet on Saturday mornings at 9:00am for Ngondro Practice followed by our public teachings/discussion and Karmapa Meditation at 11:00am. Check Our Study Schedule for topics that will be studied at the meetings. Also, we are now meeting onWednesday nights at 7:30pm for meditation in preparation for the upcoming Phowa Course in Chicago this November. All are welcome to attend.

***A message to new people- At each meeting, we are always happy to give an introduction to our group and methods, and answer any questions. No prior knowledge of Buddhism is needed to attend.***

Monthly Meditation Retreats

We host monthly Ngondro weekend retreats at the Retreat Center in addition to our weekly teachings and meditation on Saturday mornings. These preliminary practices of purifying body, speech and mind, are the foundations on which later, Mahamudra practice will rest. The retreat center provides us an amazing opportunity to do extensive meditation practice and, at the same time, build up the land to hold future courses by all of our main teachers and Lamas.

Monthly Work Days

On the second Saturday of every month, after morning meditation, we schedule a workday for all of those who can make it out. We have many special projects that we are working on, and general maintenance on the buildings and grounds is a continual process. Your help is always greatly apprecitated.

Directions to The TRC

We are located at 302 East Palm Road, Fresno, Texas 77545 (16 miles south of downtown) which is north of Hwy 6 on Almeda/FM 521 approximately 5 miles south of Beltway 8.

Coming from Downtown:

Head south on 288. Take the first exit (McHard Rd.) after beltway 8 and make a right (west). After a couple miles you'll reach a stoplight with a Chevron station. Take a left (south) onto Almeda/521). Drive south on Almeda about 4 miles, and turn left on East Palm Rd. (its the next road on the left after the small green sign that says "Mustang Bayou"). If you reach Hwy 6 you've gone too far! 302 E Palm Rd. is 1/4 mile down on the right.
